These one-of-a-kind pieces were originally Mother-of-Pearl gambling chips, marked with the family character of their owner. A 1750's antique, these gaming tokens were used for wagering in many card games. These were all hand engraved by Cantonese artisans and were wildly popular in the UK for over 100 years. They were one of the first exports coming to London on cargo ships with all the silks, teas, spices, rugs and porcelain.
These particular chips were later made into earrings, with 14k posts and a bezel-set opal.
